Everybody does it. We should talk about it…
…as it relates to your health!
Our wonderful Coach Nicole brought to my attention an AWESOME development in technology called The Squatty Potty.
So, basically, we spend all of this time trying to figure out what to put INTO our bodies with little thought in regards to how it comes OUT of our bodies. Toilets (or “poop-chairs” as I like to refer to them) are just another modern day invention of convenience that spreads the “sitting disease”.
Think of how much we sit in chairs and how it affects our body’s posture and ability to squat. We sit while driving, while Facebooking/working, while eating….you get the point.
What the hell did we do before we ever had chairs?
We pooped in holes in the ground while squatting…THAT’s what. Check this out:

I especially enjoy the sound effects they use during the video.
The real issue is how often we sit every day in bad position. Here’s the challenge:
For ONE DAY, wear a watch with a timer. EVERY TIME you sit down, start the timer. When you stand, stop the timer. Include time driving, working at the computer, watching TV while sitting, eating, and…yes…pooping.
Compare that time to the total time you are awake during the day. If you’re in the seated position for more than 25% of the day, it’s not good. More than 50%? You’re taking YEARS off your life…literally.

I prefer to use a couple spare cinder blocks from the back yard
I would consider that to be “more Paleo”…ha!
I wish I woulda come up with that idea. Then I could call it the “Scotty Squatty Potty”. Very catchy. Seriously, this was an interesting post. I sit way too much during the day, and that, along with years of relative inactivity contributed to back problems. I happy to say that 3+ months of CFME has reversed that. Nevertheless, I could get off my butt more frequently during the day.
