Make sure you stay hydrated/fueled for today’s WOD! Excessive heat warnings are in effect!
A comparison of some Overhead Squat positioning:

- The left frame shows the bar correctly balanced in the athlete’s frontal plane/mid-foot.
- The center frame shows the bar too far behind the athlete’s frontal plane – acceptable, but definitely not efficient.
- The right frame shows the bar forward of the frontal plane, resulting in the athlete relying on the shoulders/upper back to support the load – not acceptable, the athlete will eventually miss the lift or lose safe squat positioning!
How could the athlete pictured below fix his positioning? What could he do to achieve better balance/posture?

Look at the knees, hips, and shoulders. How could they be positioned to put this athlete in a better posture?
Here’s another comparison shot of different Overhead Squat positions:
Which is better? The position on the left or right? Why?

On an unrelated note: In my travels today I happened to see Orlando not once but twice on his awesome billboards (I-15 north near Mirage, and getting on 95N from 15). I know who to call when I Snippity-snap something during a class. (Kidding)
