First day…

Had a pretty relaxed first day.

Me and some of the other “good ol’ boys” took the individual competitors down to the beach to give tips on entering/exiting the surf zone while putting on fins.  Many of the athletes didn’t know how to size them properly (or their neoprene booties) or what the best technique to use would be.

Felt good to be helpful to many of the elite…but g’damn…I would be lying if I said I wasn’t completely depressed right now that I’m not competing!  Hopefully this mood gets kicked before the weekend events start.

Tomorrow’s a long day for everyone!  I’ll let you know what happens in tomorrow’s post…

  • There are NO 7:30am or 7:00pm classes this week!  Please plan accordingly!
  • Open Gym is cancelled this weekend.

  1. Zach I understand that you a bummed about not competing and this post might not help, but you need to know that you are an inspiration to me. What I saw from you during the last event in Denver was phenomenal. You inspire me to want to be great and I am sure I am not the only one. Oh and PS next year you are going to kick ass next year! Thanks for being an awesome coach.

I’m depressed you’re not competing either, but everything happens for a reason. You’re amazing, just fuel for the fire for next year.

I echo Kelly’s sentiments. That’s geography that you know better than most and your skills and guidance are incredibly valuable to the athletes. Your willingness to help says more about you than time on a clock. But I get it – you would rather be competing. Keep us posted on the events and share more stories.
